Seattle artist, Marjorie Thompson, grew up on the doorstep of the Pacific Northwest’s rain forest and pacific coast beaches. Nature and its magical inspiration has been a part of her artwork throughout her lifetime. She was raised in the studio of her father, a well-known Pacific Northwest artist and grew up with art. Creativity has been a part of her life since this early beginning and has taken several forms along her artistic journey. She was a jewelry artist for 10 years before finding encaustic painting in 2011. Encaustic painting is the use of a combination of hot beeswax and tree resin, painted or printed in its molten form. By using a medium so closely derived from nature, she is finding it an inspiring way of expressing the nuances, layers and textures of nature that continues to be her muse.
In 2020, she has added oil and cold wax medium as well as acrylic painting to her current offerings. The addition of other mediums allows her to continue to express the beauty of nature.
